New AG on torture
November 26, 2008Incoming AG Eric Holder on torture and other Bush policies:
“The term ‘Leader of the Free World’ is bestowed upon the United States president because of theĀ civil liberties and the rights we guarantee our people. It comes from the power of our values as a nation. For the last six years, the position of Leader of the Free World has been largely vacant. We have ceded much of our moral high ground, which our own military leaders will tell you is a vital asset in our struggle against terrorism.”
From last July. Recommended viewing.

Unbelievable
November 23, 2008From a recent AFP story:
“US elected officials scored abysmally on a test measuring their civic knowledge, with an average grade of just 44 percent. Ordinary citizens did not fare much better, scoring just 49 percent correct.”
I heard Palin got an 8, just ahead of Bush’s 0. Cheney just scribbled profanities all over the test then vomited sulfuric acid everywhere.
